Robert F. Hammerstiel hat in dem Online-Computerspiel „Second Life“ menschenleere Kulissen fotografiert und die entstandenen Bilder jeweils durch ein Zitat aus Gesprächen mit anderen Mitspielern über ihre Motive, Sehnsüchte und Wünsche ergänzt. In den meisten Fällen wird der Aufenthalt in „Second Life“ als „heaven on earth“ empfunden, in dem Abenteuer, Fun und Selbstverwirklichung scheinbar besser gelingen als im realen Leben.
Robert F. Hammerstiel photographed deserted settings from the online computer game Second Life and, in each case, complemented the photographs created as a result by citing excerpts from chats with other players about their motives, wishes and desires. In most cases the time they spend in Second Life is perceived as ‘heaven on earth’, where adventure, fun and self-fulfilment apparently succeed better than in real life.
